John Lautner (1911 - 1994) - Architect. Tailer for INFINITE SPACE (2009)

The one important aspect, or legacy, of the famed architect John Lautner and his mid century designs, particularly Californian houses, is the way he was able to compress space and at the same time, create that feeling that there is an infinity within the area used, a combination of the natural environment and the structure blending to create it's own dimension.

Lautner is recognized for imprinting that mid-century structural technique as a benchmark for American late 1940's to 1980's design.  His use and control of concrete as a stalwart statement melded into environments, in-which nature wields too, is to me, what it means in creating modern human habitation to enrich natural environments.  The above trailer is from the documentary called Infinity Space (2008) which is a Dutch production.  The full documentary is hard to find on the internet and the website link is down.  Regardless the publisher Tashen has a quintessential photographic book detailing all of Launter's projects.
