Mike Carey's LUCIFER (Comic)
Mike Carey's Lucifer graphic novel was a bright light in the comic book world. The publication ended in 2006 after beginning in 2000, but it still resonates in it's obscurity as a well written piece of art; drawn by Ryan Kelly and Peter Gross, they along with Christopher Moeller (covers), accomplished a stellar job.
But it is Mike Carey's writing that nails it together. Taking the most charismatic character from Judea/Christian lore - Lucifer, and making him more humanistic in his desires.
“Yahweh: You've been unhappy because you've desired things that cannot be.
Lucifer: That's what desire IS. The need for what we can't have. The need for what's readily available is called greed.”
