Damir Doma 2014 - Paris fashion week (October 2013)

Highlights for 2014 spring fashion weeks were the major fashion houses Gucci, Versace, Tom Ford,  Yohji Yamamoto master play for Adidas (Y3), Rick Owens unnerving an industry, with, in my opinion, Ann Demeulemeester stealing the whole show with her subtle/blunt and gothic sex appeal.

Damir Doma who is such a talented designer, but still feels like he is trying to set a style.  There is a clean, stark modernist expression with his range, you can see this with color palette, cuts and staging of Doma's shows (industrial, brutalist concrete environments).  There is however a possible slowing of momentum,  which would be a shame, as it could be the hallmark of young designers going too hard.  This is why I say the older fashion houses just blitzed 2014 Spring fashion weeks, in that sense, it could be argued that they were able to lead aspects of style for spring fashion weeks only because the newer designers weren't able to rise to challenge.

For Doma's Spring 2014 range his palette was scattered between white, washed out browns, yellow, red and black.  Some stylized pattern work with cut out circler shapes, the photos above do not to justice to the details, especially for the non-pleated skirts (white) - which show interconnection of embroidered stitch work between the circles, very much like a star constellation.   Overall the range seemed sporadic and a little messy, as it tried to settle into a style.
