Rick Owens - Paris Fashion week Fall 2014

Again Rick Owen's irony rises to the occasion. You can see the visual strength in this collection, the structured leather and fabric vests, almost reinforced bullet proof looking, the head scarfs - tribal and ceremonial from another parallel universe. A Western take on Eastern aesthetics of Bedouin imagery, the inspiration of tradition, an homogeneous style that holds it's self together as an individual concept of design. This range is not post modern or modernism, not even avant garde. It's as though Rick Owens is traveling to other parallel worlds and dimensions, new Earths, and finding inspiration (or simply reading Frank Herbet's Dune ala The Fremen). Flipping expectations of what is expressed in clothing as a rebellious statement and what is defined as masculine and feminine.
