This is Kate Spade NY moving into the Ready-to-Wear arrays in a balanced and colorful perspective to match the brand's established accessory market of handbags.  To which Kate Spade is renown.  Recently appointed creative director Nicola Glass has melded a beautifully crafted selection of late 1970s elegance with clear Rive Gauche influences of the Parisian left bank bohemian styles.  Accentuating the free spirited portrayed nostalgia, the collection also reflects early sybaritic 1980s New York nightlife via Studio 54 mini and mid length skirts ala Edie Sedgwick's charm.

Floral colors intermixed with shaper blues, yellows and deep reds, is Glass's transfixing of the post hippie Bohemia within the hedonistic set styles of the 80s disco era.  A duel play on two opposites as a chronological snapshot of bygone styles.  It is admirable when designers, like Glass, in defining seasonal collections from prior styles in history – are able to rework aesthetics to suit, in relation to Kate Spade, that would be the bag and accessory market.

Leopard skins prints, high hemmed trousers that matches the breezy styles of silk overlays and of course lots of handbags, in fact two a piece on some of the models.  The scaling down from the trend of heavy laden Tote bags, to what could be seen as a more functional style.  Albeit, the smaller bag with an extra bag attached, may serve the purpose.  However the configurations, Glass's stylization holds a unique and respectful place alongside the brand essentialist styles.
