Rick Owens

My point regarding the failure of architecture in the last 100 years as a principle art-form (A.Glass updates and insight (update 38) - modern decay (update 1)), was to highlight that within the throes of monetary excess, say the economic busts (sans governments pitiful and harmful interventions to offset busts). Certain creative aspects flourished, others didn't.  Art did, fashion certainly did, as it always does, music tried but was crippled by corporate cartel idealism. The only hope for music now, is that it starts singing protest songs again ala 1960's and 1970's. Movies failed (if it isn't memorable it's a failure), television did very well, more so mini series (drama's) - which were very memorable ala The Sopranos etc.

As mentioned, fashion successfully did seem to come through the excess and complacency of the last 15 years.  More notably designer Rick Owens.  I really think he is a futurist within the fashion industry, setting benchmarks to push boundaries.
