Violence and it's contradictions: Hollywood

I think it was amusing that Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D knocked off the box office opening week for The Hobbit (flogging a dead horse) and Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained, which I think Jamie Foxx coming out with the anti-gun 'celebrity apologist' tedium may just have caused a slight backlash against Tarantino's new movie.

And yet, with the concerns of America cycling through it's extreme violence once again and it's inability to look at violence (symptoms and analysis), we rely on Hollywood to expertly reveal the confused paradox of American society.  After the tragedy of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, we get actors, who on the whole, are paid to emulate violence through their medium (as it pays well) - foolishly joined the ranks of hysteria.  The reality is America is a violent place.  Hollywood accepts that, thus enjoys selling what we want so much want.  A simple understanding, or mirroring of our fears, desires and fantasies - all wrapped up in a violent and sexually tense reflection of ourselves.
