Y-3 - Paris Fashion week Fall 2014
Yohji Yamamoto's tough, rugged, individual and very well crafted range for Adidas marches on. To me, it's close to flawlessness in clothing design that exudes creativity, functionality and appeal. Which is the foundation of design. In my opinion, in a commercial sense, Y-3 achieves this very well. But my criticism, particularly with his 2014 range, is the amount of Adidas 'logo stripes' with this collection, which could be the upper management laying down a stamp on Yahamoto's mark. Thus is the eternal tug of war with creativity and corporate interests.
