Richard Dawkins on Extraterrestrial life via BBC (World Changing Ideas Summit 2014)
Scientifically, the next major projects on a global scale will be the search for Extraterrestrial Life. At some-point in the near term, a signal, or a visual discovery (maybe the artifact theory, described as one of the Fermi Paradox answers) will be the beginning for humanity to embrace the idea that we are not alone in the cosmos. NASA funding into astro-biology research is a crucial start in finding the biological building (bacteria based) blocks for life throughout our solar-system, even religion, more so Catholicism is preparing for the inevitable. But, as Richard Dawkin's summarizes in the clip above, that despite any expectations that we may have in our preparedness and/or contact with advanced alien lifeforms. Extraterrestrial Life could be something that is so alien to us, it may reshape our own concept of what biology means outside from the Earth.
