Under stylist Arianne Phillips watchful eye, although she didn't attend Henri Levy's Men's Fall 2020 showing at Paris Fashion Week, has left a guide for Levy to follow, to which he has maintained this guidance of the famed Hollywood costume designer.  There is certainty a maturing aspect to Levy's styles, from mostly lookbook collections to his first Paris runway show, being the Men's Fall collection (for my review, please refer to this link).  It is no doubt that Levy has borrowed heavily from reworked styles of late 1970s Viviene Westwood and Malcolm McLaren London 'Sex' Shop punk aesthetics, that, if you are aware of the timeline of their collaborative history, both borrowed from the late 1960s Situationist art movement and a pre-punk New York garage music scene of the mid 70's.  For the sake of curbing the ego of aging rock-stars of the said era's, lets just say that everybody took an idea from everybody else.  However the trick is defining and making it your own without succumbing to the nostalgia of recopying bygone ideas and designs.

Yet, after Levy admitted he had trouble with styling his prior collections, to which the importance of a stylist is an undeniable part of fashion, particularly when the designer needs, on more occasions than not, an assistance in fitting and configuring the clothes portrayed.  It was in light of Levy's friend Courtney Love, who introduced Phillips to the young French designer who is based in L.A.  Thus securing her influence by melding and streamlining Levy's interest of the punk ethos, without compromising his brand's imprint.  Which has ultimately paid off.

Levy, for his Enfants Riches Déprimés Fall Ready-to-Wear collection has returned to the lookbook template, revealing a finer and more characterized offering.  Reflected from both of his recent Paris showings as a more establishing and tailored affair.
