Excerpt: CHRISTOPHER KANE - RESORT 2024

 

"...The 80's trend has been persistent through out the last five years, resurfacing as an appealing timeline that some designers have retained as a nostalgia for its bygone attributions.  Kane has kept the said themes by redefining the simulacrum of four decades ago, into a contemporary show piece.  Much like a parallel history lesson, infused with elements of 1920's styles, which once again, reflects an era of hedonism.  

However, Kane's Resort 2024 styles hold a more serious tone and daren't I say darker array, as opposed to his prior collections.  The 1960's open love and utopian aesthetics from past runways shows, have been replaced with a sleeker and more defined stylizations with his recent lookbooks.  Which maybe indicative of a world facing a tumultuous shift after the COVID pandemic, and this visual reflection has been seen with other designers that have embarked on delivering a somber impression with their 2023 and 2024 collections..."
