Reading: "THE AZIMUTH PRINCIPLE" FROM THE NOVEL EVENFALL OF THE HELICAL (A.GLASS 2022)

After showering and drying herself, standing in the full length mirror, Elva checks over her outfit for the day, a sleeveless gray sheer lace dress, with its fringe detaining at the hem, over a long sleeve viscose dark purple lace top, accompanied by jet black stockings. Tying her hair back into a ponytail, she looks admirably at her dark brown leather ankle boots. Checking her phone, she sees that it is Seven Forty Five AM, lifting up her keys from the granite bench, placing them into a small sachet bag. Looking around her studio apartment, she opens the door and leaves. Walking the wide, modern style walkway to the elevators, viewing herself out again in the mirror that overlooks the apartment lifts. Satisfied at her appearance, the lift doors open, to which she enters.

“This place is new, not much distress here...yet.” Elva says quietly to herself, referring to the dysphoric apparitions that are absorbed into the structures of buildings. With her right index finger, she taps the ground floor button of the lift, as it descends to the street level. Walking out from the foyer onto the street known as the Parade, she sees the light of dawn, facing West, which is still dark, while the illumination of the East remains hidden, the sky reflects the first streaks of sunlight, that is the eventide. It is the radiance between darkness and light, is the world of which Elva was born. She turns right at Ivers street, walking towards Royal Parade to catch the tram into the city.

As the City nears, Elva looks up at the looming structures, although it does not resonate as intensely as the inner Northern suburbs, which she now resides in, Elva has been able to pacify the city area within the many years of walking through its laneways and side streets at night, ameliorating the restless visitants and their suffering. A ritual that continues, so that she would not absorb their pain. Considered she is the light bearer within the void, it was the necessity of building her endurance, passing through her own suffering.
