is THE 10 MILLION YEAR OLD SUPER GIANT STAR Betelgeuse ABOUT TO DIE?
(Betelguese's massive size. If it was to fit into our solar system, the star would absorb all the planets, including the Sun to the edge of Jupiter's orbit.)
Updates will be ongoing. If it is indeed the end of the lifecycle of this super massive star, which is 764 times larger than our Sun, the event within our lifetime will be an incredible spectacle to behold. Of late, Betelgeuse has dimmed significantly and then brighten up, which is evident of the star churning through its hydrogen and beginning to splutter out. And by its sheer size and weight of Betelgeuse's own gravity, it will end up collapsing in on itself, exploding into a supernova. A bright star, visible during the day and as bright as the moon on a clear night. Over the months and years, the light from Betelgeuse will fade and the star will be no more. Only star charts will offer a memory of what it once was.
