Olivier Theyskens returns with his contemporary take on gothic inspired romantic looks with its darkened, yet radiant seductive cues for Resort 2020. Theyskens is one of the most original and creative fashion designers emerging at the moment.  Very skilled and focused on delivering ideas and concepts from past resonance, yet not overly emulating the time period, rather he has fused a sense of purpose within his definition of aesthetics of yore.  Theyskens has not shied way from his show pieces of portraying the enticement of sex appeal, feminine and divine, whilst at the same time etching out its apprehensions, yet imprinting the subtle and nonchalant as the key perspectives of attraction.  So it is sophisticated and not garish with its thigh high splits low and high neck lines, shoulder pads and cocktails.

Theyskens, has lifted out Art Deco stylization, infusing the tail end of 1950s suburban life backlash into 1960s high-life, intertwining disco while embracing end-is-nigh 1970s and 80's hedonism, brining into the now, seen from a parallel Earth.  It feels good to view this type of collection, the monochromatic black and white studio concepts, with its matte contrasts. Theyskens has very little trouble in portraying his latest array as a set theme, guided by his honed skills as a designer.

Wool, leather and silk used on mini-skirts and tops, sleek and well fitted, 70's denim stylization, tightly fitted and sexy.  Seen beautifully as layered and crafted long dresses, with their defined cuts and its glimpse of desire.  Lace overlays, sheer tops and corsets, styled without the costumed novelty, the coruscation and radiance is evident throughout out despite the black and white photos.
