Alessandro Dell'Acqua of Rochas for his Resort 2020 collection has, in a very original style, fused Edwardian flowing skirts and one piece dresses, with their pinched and layered techniques into an extremely creative fusion, that is 1900s romanticism mixed with contemporary street-wear styles.  Which I have never seen fused together as a possible trend, Dell'Acqua offers such an elegant take on styles that existed over a hundred years of each other.  When viewing a collection such as this, it reinstates the enthusiasm for what aesthetic means, in the sense of pushing ideas and boundaries of style.  Not transfixed on setting trends as some marketable egocentric idealism, rather, creativity should be a unique affair that, yes, it may herald profits, but the focus on what might be deemed as obscure, assists in creating a template for further ideas. Very much missed within the fashion industry at the movement.

Silks and fine wool blends, elegantly portrayed as a retrospective style that is very new and unique.  Only a skilled designer can achieve this and as mentioned, I haven't seen this in long time. Dell'Acqua has brought the haute couture of Parisian styles, that was actually initiated by an Englishman Charles Frederick Worth (1825-1895), attaching it to the sleekness of utility and street styles.  That works so well as a combination.

The color palette remains centered within its dark resonance of neutral tones, as one of the most amazing and daring of colors; pink,  is viewed in its more sombre appeal.  Edwardian gothic looks and modern city dystopic styles, yet the array is couture in its manifestation particularly since this is a Resort showing.

Truly a unique and interesting collection for Rochas.
