Dion Lee. Fall 2020 Ready-to-Wear - New York Fashion Week.

Dion Lee, after his Spring 2020 Ready-to-Wear collection, has assisted in setting a pace for another trend of 2020 which is the allure of lingerie as an outwears.  Seen mostly on the runways of late last year in 2019,  there was a freeing up from the layering and rigidity of certain looks, although, all these trends, including the lean modernist cuts and draped ensembles will still hold well into 2020 – as an counterbalance to the seductive and alluring re-cut silhouettes.   

Australian designer Dion Lee cleverly fuses his own personal imprint onto these provocative looks, adding a core toughness to his collections.  Without overly softening the arrays, he has successfully merged minimalist structures, combining the various attached details.  I feel it is important that designers experiment with accessories, more so jewelry as a complementing fixture.  For Lee's Fall 2020 RTW styles, he has included chains as a hanging supplementary style, golden in tone, seen dangling from the hips and necks of some of models.  In a Greek goddess nymph pose.  Reminding me of Herbert Gustave Schmalz 1888 picture of the rebel queen Zenobia of ancient Syria, who captured Egypt form the Romans.  Reinforcing Lee's tough resolve with the more sheer styles on display.  He has also inserted an arrangement of men's styles within the revealing women's looks, with a slight femininity crossover infused onto the male models, surprisingly the men's styles hold their own, without overly reflecting the more enthralling female styles. 

The color palette stays mostly in the Stygian fixture with whites, dark blues, greens, dulled yellows and red, also noted are the tie-dyed styles on the more sheer and revealing outfits. It is no doubt that Lee is defining the sexy look, which as mentioned, is refreshing to see in tandem with the more layered and structured styles of 2020.  Lee's cuts and fittings have been exceptional to date, with in turn have allowed him to focus, as a runway presentation, on the brands decisive appeal.  

Dion Lee is crafting a significant impression within the fashion world.
