Moodboard: clip from the 1997 movie 'Starship Troopers' (dir: Paul Verhoeven). 'History and Moral Philosophy' teacher Jean Rasczak. Explaining to his class why democracy fails and militarism is supreme over all other forms of government.

If you have been following my posts re:  The genocide in Gaza and the new found Militarism of the West.  Which has been activated by what could be deemed 'Right' leaning Centralists, that are now teetering on the edge of Fascism (to which Israel may have tipped completely into).  It is not a new study of our society, of wars seemingly justifiable even with a genocide.  Depending on what side of the fence you reside on, and/or your religious beliefs.   The sociological argument, of how the militarist technocrats can steer this push into a militaristic based society without it descending into Fascism, are still ongoing.  Even if it has archaic undertones, by using Napoleonism and Frederick the Great as possible templates of how a militarist society, not a fascist one per se ala Putin or Trump's imperialistic desires, could actually function in the 21st Century.  Are proving to be outdated, and possibly dangerous assertions delivered by the current rhetoric of the European Union and U.S. politicians.

The above clip from the 1997 movie Starship Troopers (directed: Paul Verhoeven), from the 1959 novel of the same name, by Robert Heinlein (d1988), where 'History and Moral Philosophy' teacher Jean Rasczak (played by Michael Ironside) explains to the class why, in his opinion, democracy fails and militarism is supreme over all other forms of government.
