View from my mother's hospital room. Inner North suburb of Fitzroy, Melbourne. Mount Cottrell is far North, slightly to the right in the distance. One of the oldest suburbs of Melbourne, filled with gothic revival, victorian, art nouveau and art deco architecture. Housing commission buildings on the left were built in the 1960s to remove the 'slum' look of the suburb. During the 1800s gold rush/boom, Melbourne's population was larger than New York City.
