Francesco Scognamiglio haute couture Spring 2019 collection for Milan has set a stage in relation to cuing onto the 1970 and 1980 glamor looks.  As a relatively new designer, he launched his signature brand in 1998 and already having a firm footing within the Italian fashion industry, working as a style consultant with Vesance from 1994 to 1999.  He has honed couture and ready-to-wear as the main focus for his collections, with couture being front and center in exhibiting Scognamiglio's  talent as a fashion designer.

And when it comes to infused sex appeal of femininity, especially under the auspiciousness of couture, Italians do, do it better, no doubt about that, although at times the garish and untactful occasionally rises to the surface – this however is ubiquitous, especially now with the flaunting of styles which exude the sultry (trends for 2019). Style and crafting of impression, that is the mystique, vastly outweighs the cheap and nasty that is fast fashion copies.

Scognamiglio has stated that the “Moon” as an inspiration for his Spring 2019 collection. Touching upon, which was very clever, Romanticism styles – ala Byronic overtures of poetry and seduction, coalesced together with early 80s glamor.  Lace, mini dresses, within its torrid and dark array, off the shoulder cocktail dresses, crafted sleekly in defining attributes. Sheer and tulle fabrics, overlaying Scognamigilo's enticing accentuation of the female form.  The color palette, holds down the achromatic template of black and white, purity and its darkness – creams and a darked pink. Which, I have mentioned in other reviews. That pink, can be used as a stark and even dark, brooding texture.  Very underutilized.

 A stunning collection.
