Alessandro Michele has delivered, in light of the Gucci's 2020 Pre-Fall showing, the men's lookbook collection for the new year.  As discussed with his previous show reviews, the thrift styles have become the steadfast trend for 2020, to which they have been carefully mixed with backdated vintage inspired pieces.  Whilst the variant of sizing becomes illusive through a combination of mix and match, in turn it has made the larger fashion brands to be more creative with their fittings, but of course this does not mean traditional sizing has changed.  This is what keeps a fashion company ahead of the thrift trend and its trial and error of buying used clothing to find the right piece.  So, interestedly, Michele has scaled back on the fusion of so called 80's and 90's styles, rewinding it further towards 1960s fitted suit ensembles - whilst maintaining the couture standard of clothing design.   Maturing the collection beyond its obvious market direction, interfusing decades of styles, that have been uniquely devised into a marketable look.  Such is the mastery of Michele, exhibiting superbly crafted and imprinted styles for the Italian fashion powerhouse.

Gucci's Pre-fall collection is a spill over from the extended 2020 lookbook, dividing up mostly male styles with some women's Ready-to-Wear pieces.   A sleek and beautifully crafted array of Michele's branded Gucci styles, portraying a homage to 1960s bell bottom trousers,  signifying a retrofit onto the 21st Century cue of innovative stylizations. Once again via Michele, Gucci have established a set piece of outfits of years gone by, reflecting the eclectic overtures of current street styles as they keep in step with Michele's savvy eccentricity.

The men's looks have a modern recut feel, that despite the 60's influence are very much contemporary in its trend of downplayed glamorization.  With the Gucci label attached and fine tailoring ensued, the styles are evenly portrayed in their easy and accessible arrays, allowing the individuality of the aesthetics to shine through.  As a renown high end brand, Gucci has set its self above the rest.  However regardless of its established reputation, it will be interesting to see if sales for 2020 continue to ride the high side, that despite attaching its current looks to the thrift markets, these are first hand buys.  Even though slow fashion maybe the new catch cry, 2020 could herald the start of an avalanche of second hand clothing hitting online selling platforms.  The slowing in fashion may only occur from profits, while the discounted 'recycled' markets heat up.
