cults of the culture wars: fringe Far Right theories, to obscurity, and its metabolic rise into the digital age. The 1950s and 1960s esoteric "vedic" fascist mismatch , clumping ideologies into the ad hoc Far RIght of the 2000s. "The Age of Kali Yuga" Fascist redux. (Part 6)

On November 27th 2021 via an Instagram post, the lowbrow, paleolibertarian podcaster, and bonafide conspiracy theorist with extreme Far Right tendencies, Joe Rogan, pronounced that we are all living in the "Age of Kali Yuga" ala quote from his post, "Hard Times Create Strong Men / Good Times Create Weak Men" which came from the pulp fiction/doomsday/an American hero will rise from the ashes, conservative author G. Michael Hopf book "Those Who Remain" (2016) .  Rogan attached a very Western "Vedic" Fascist quote, to the author's actual quote and reworked it, with a graphic, with its full text, written as:  "Strong Men Create Good Times = Satya Yuga (The Golden Age).  Good Times Create Weak Men = Treta/Dvapara Yuga (The Decline).  Weak Men Create Hard Times = Kali Yuga (The Present Dark Age/Age of Discord"

And on October 25th 2024, Joe Rogan invited Donald Trump to appear of his podcast, 11 days before the 2025 election for Trump's return to the Oval Office, which was, considering Rogan's large Far Right, conspiracy theory drenched audience, solidified their vote frenzy which reinstated Donald Trump for a 2nd time, and as we all know now, inflicting his Trumpist proto-Fascist doctrine onto the world.   Rogan, who had been clearly influenced by the Western reworking (and pillaging) of Vedic or Hindu "Age of Kali Yuga" mysticism by Fascists, publicised by two obscure authors, yet highly significant to the Alt Right/Fascist rise in 2010; Julius Evola and Savitri Devi.

As discussed, the 1990s Generation Xer 'boomer' counterculture' backlash, edgy interest in the forbidden, which spawned the precursor, that being the Goth, neo-folk, industrial, noise bands, with notable figures like the Neo-Nazi shock art/writer/musician Boyd Rice, later morphing into to the sleeker Alt-Right manifestations in 2010.  The interest in the obscurity of antiquated Proto-Fascist, Fascist and Nazi writers and philosophers of the last 100 years, may have lost its 'masked' 90s irony and interest in transgressive, anti-social democracy texts, only to evolve a decade later into a profitable, global marketplace, starting with the Danish Far Right book distributor "Integral Tradition Publishing" (ITP) in 2005, which was later acquired by "Arktos Media" in 2008. 

After acquiring ITPs catalogue, Arktos Media, loosely based in London, Budapest, and Poland, with its creators, the ex-Nazi skinhead Daniel Friberg, who morphed from 'street' Nazi, to an 'educated' suit and tie Fascist, with a degree in Economics, and having worked, apparently, in the corporate world, and apparently was once a CEO of a junior mining company, which was revealed by Swedish authorities in 2015, as a financial front, to funnel 'funds' into Far Right/White Supremacist groups globally.  And John Morgan, an American white supremacist, and editor, who was part of ITP, and conjoined with fellow Fascist Friberg.  They both fell out with each other in 2017, as Friberg began siphoning Artokos Media's profits into his newfound luxury Fascist  'lifestyle'.

If Daniel Friberg is a Fascist corporate wannabe, running the New Right or "Nouvelle Droite", perspective of suits, ties and intellectual banter, crafting a backlog of Post World War Two Fascist writers who sought to rewrite and rebrand the script of Fascism, so that it could intellectually rise to the occasion and be palatable to a Centralist political landscape, in their, as discussed, ad hoc way of scavenging Left/Marxist intellectual  concepts and political foundations, then John Morgan is the updated version of that 1990s 'edgy' white supremist.  After splitting with his Far Right ex-partner, Morgan partnered with another book/music distribution called "Counter-Currents", which aimed itself at a street level, albeit as sleek as the Arktos Media template, with Far Right 'street' elements, mixed with a plethora of Fascist/Nazi "Vedic" inspired esoterica, mainly  National Socialist Black Metal (NSBM), Nazi/Fascist noise/industrial/psych-rock, specifically aimed at younger adult age groups. 

And both these Far Right peddlers, Daniel Friberg, and John Morgan, who have dusted off over a 100 years of obscure, literature via a slew of the proponents from pre and post World War Two Fascism/Neo-Nazism, it is the writers Julius Evola, who passed away in 1972, and Savitri Devi, who passed away in 1982, despite being long dead entities, that both represented the two sides of the Fascist, "Kali Yuga", so called, Vedic esoterical coin.   

Did Rogan's "Age of Kali Yuga" anti-woke hysteria in 2021, lead to his Trump podcast endorsement in 2024?  And whose "Age of Kali Yuga" won out, Evola's "Ride The Tiger" and await for Social Democracy to collapse?  Or Devi's, "Hitlerism", and the need for a strong, brutal leader to collapse the Democratic world?  

Before looking at what the "Age of Kali Yuga" means as an interpretation via a closet Far Right extremist podcaster, one has to go back into the European "Age of Enlightenment" history, more so the French colonialist and writer Louis Jacolliot (1837–1890), to understand why white supremacists have fused Indian Hinduism to the Far Right justification of Aryan superiority, and its Vedic super cycles over the 100 plus years of Fascist texts and conspiracy theories, and why it keeps resurfacing.  When Jacolliot completed his translated version of the 2000 year old Indian/Hindu Manusmriti ("The Laws of Manu"), he not only did he fabricate it, he rewrote the text, and drew, one could say, inspiration from the ancient Vedic writings to justify colonization of India by England, and refined into a mythos of white superiority, under the deliberate misreading of the term "ārya" (means "noble"), and creating the name Aryan, as a ancient Indian race of light skinned, higher caste civilization, who were forced to flee india, by the lower caste, and settle in Europe. 

But, it is the white supremacists of the later part of the 1800s, who inverted Jacolliot's Aryan mythos, to an 'invasion' of India theory by white Aryans, and began spreading of European wisdom throughout the ancient world via a mythical race born out of the Southern Hemisphere, which is one of the most confluted, mismatching, crazy lineage of pseudoscience, early European esoterica societies, to come out of the West's scientific superiority period of the early 19th Century (Age of Enlightenment).  All desperately trying to pin together why sub-continent races actually had civilizations, that were not European in ethnicity, while throwing in Sanskrit terms, probably out of a lazy context ala "Indo-Aryan", when in fact, an "Aryan" race does not exist at all.

The Nazis specifically under Adolf hitler, rather than Mussolini's Fascists, went further in compressing 19th Century proto-White Supremacy, into a mythical backlog of Aryan origins as a clear cut premise that the true Aryan is a spiritually, and physically superior human, who is connected to a "white" master race, and beyond any Christo-Fascist linking, it is more aligned, through deliberate misreading by Fascists, with Nordic Pagan, and Hindu or Vedic texts, with its blatant misinterpretation, as mentioned, of the Sanskrit word "ārya" that offered that ultimate reasoning or justification, to denigrate other 'races'.

Julius Evola, was a post World War One Italian, born again elitist, despite his working class background, part of the Proto-Fascist "Futurist" art movement of the early 1900s, moving across to the nihilistic anarcho Dadias artists, and by the 1920s Evola, as many artists and writers of the time began to experiment with Bohemianism (yes, the first incarnation of the 1960s hippies), anti-war sentiment, anti-authoritarianism and drugs, the rigid soon-to-be Fascist mentally snapped, possible from doing too much ether, reads a Buddhist text, decides to "kill" his ego not his biological self, and in 1927 creates the Far Right "magic" society the UR Group, with "UR" a coded term for mysterium ala "fire", "ancient" and apparently the spelling for a mythical city in Mesopotamia.  And while Benito Mussolini 'street' fascism, despite it being backed by Italian intellectuals at the time, was not so compatible with Evola spiritually advanced version of authoritarian leader and a 'pure' warrior class, he falls out with Mussolini for being too "populist" and "materialistic".  

Surviving a trial in 1951, for being a Fascist collaborator and educator of German SS during World War Two, then attaching himself to the Fascist Italian underground of the 1960s and later being reused in the 1970s by Italian Far Right terrorists, as an aging relic Italian Fascism.  His feigned elitist rigidity, tones down somewhat, and writes two famed Fascist/Neo-Nazi books, which were based of his then iconic, and Vedic/Eastern Spiritual plundering "Revolt against the Modern World" (1934), to:  "Men Among the Ruins " (1952), which was his blueprint, once again, as it was during the 1930s and 1940s, to create in a blunt, militant way, mixed with his rebranded spirituality, a racially elitist, Ethno-European authoritarian, Far Right sub-society to collapse social democratic, socialist, egalitarian societies.  This time (1950s), Evola believed, he could make it work where Mussolini and Hitler failed.  And while building hi Fascists networks in throughout the 1950s and 1960s, an aging Evola, throws in the towel, as the counterculture years and social democracy do actually win, pushing these Far Right/ post war Fascists back into the dustbins of history, and thus, a very bitter, lonely and paralysed (he was injured in a bombing raid in Vienna in 1945), Evola in his early 60s retreats into the beginning of obscurity before his death in 1973, and just before passing into the realms of the Fascist void, he writes his final book, "Ride the Tiger" in 1961. 

To, basically, "ride" out the 1960s, until its egalitarian decadence in the Age of Kali Yuga collapses in on itself, and the Fascists rise again and take power.  That's what Evola believed in the end, before his ashes were buried into an ice glacier on Monte Rosa in 1974.

Maximiani Julia Portas, was born of a English mother, and an Italian/Greek Father in Lyon, France in 1901, highly educated and from an upper Middle Class family living in Paris, Portas's transition from teenger, who could speak, according to her history, a selection of European languages, and like Julius Evola, albeit younger, she appeared to have snapped mentally after World War One, and like Evola, rather than rejecting war and State powers, and embracing the counterculture of 1920s bohemia, hedony, art, sex and drugs, she went to the 'other' way, towards proto-Fascist ideology, and then eventually Nazsim, and, also like Evola, she derived a virement dislike of Jews, blaming them for the Germany losing the war, and having the "Treaty of Versailles" imposed on them by Western powers.  While doubling down on her dislike of egalitarianism, socialism, and Jews in 1920s Europe, in 1928 she renounces her French citizenship, joins up with Greek Far Right Nationalist movements, lives in Greece, then later Palestine, where she further goes into a psychological spiral, paranoid, due to her hatred of Jews, that they will become a global threat to the Aryan race, if they form a homeland in Palestine (she was not pro-Palestine), it was her Nazi paranoia beginning to surface, that the Jews, in her mind, are a lesser race of nomads that may unbalance Hitler's Nazi vision of Aryan global dominance.

Already aware, and obsessively drawn to the Aryan "Vedic" myth (yes, like Evola) of the early 19th Century, when arriving in India in 1932 she changes her name to Savitri Devi, learns Sanskrit, and begins to imprint the Aryan connection to India with psychotic rigor.  Declaring that the "Age of Kali Yuga" is upon the world (1930s), and marries, in 1940, a Bengali Nazi sympathizer, and when World War Two breaks out she, and her husband begin the process of feeding wartime intelligence to Germany.  After World War Two, shattered that Germany had lost, again, and this time, aware of the literal destruction of German cities by allied bombing, Devi psychologically snaps again, leaving her husband, and returning to Europe, more so England, and then France, desperately wanting to see the destruction and the collapse of Hitler's Nazi Germany with her own eyes, in a manic decision she compiles a bunch of Pro-Nazi/National Socialist leaflets in 1948 and 1949, handing them out to Germans in the rubble of Berlin, is arrested, sentenced and spends time in a German prison filled with ex-SS soldiers and other Nazis, leaves jail and then is expelled from Germany.  

Throughout the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, before her death in 1981, Savitri Devi wrote three significant titles, :  "Defiance" (1951) about her arrest in post War German, and her 'crusade' to promote the next rise of Nazism.  "Gold in the Furnace" (1952), about how suffering of post war Germany will create a more extreme and pure version of Nazism, then the one book, that has been requoted to today via the Rogan-esque Far Right sphere, ala "The Age of Kali Yuga" , "The Lightening and the Sun" (1958), which was an oddball mix of European esoterica myth, mixed with Nazi "Aryan" Vedic/Hindu scavenging, decrying that the only way to repel the Age of Kali Yuga, is required a man or "Men against Time", to violently obliterate, in Devi's mind, the "cosmic lie" of  social democracy, egalitarianism, socialism and equality in society.

Sound familiar, say, Donald Trump?  

Savitri Devi, died in 1982 from a heart attack in England, she had been living in squalor within a tiny Calcutta apatrment prior, was half blind from cataracts, she was poor and physically and mentally decrepit, and about to give a lecture in the U.S. the same year.   Devi was 77.
