Quote: "Machines of the Occultus" from THE GRAFT OF SHADOWS (A. GLASS 2019)

...I have to go,” he says, also standing, yet in a calm and serene manner, walking in the direction of Shannah's small lounge room. She doesn't notice, but his appearance seems faint, almost phantasma like as he slowly moves towards Shannah's front door. She just nods without saying anything, entering her bathroom as she begins to worry, knowing that she is, particularly this time of the month, at her most fertile. Quickly walking towards the toilet bowl she lifts some toilet-paper and wipes herself, looking down at the thin tissue paper seeing only her own natural lubrication, she then inserts a finger into her now rested opening, not sure that the fluid gathered onto her fingers is hers. Spreading it out among her middle and index finger the moistness appears slightly milky, but Shannah knows it's not semen. Looking at herself in the mirror, she exhales. Quickly walking back to the lounge area, she looks around to see if he is still there, noticing that the clothing, that was his and the man himself are gone. Unsure what she feels, Shannah, standing motionless, eyes her apartment. It is quite and still, the heat that resonated before has returned to its normal temperature. She then turns and stares at her bedroom, noting the ruffled sheets. Walking back into her small bathroom she turns on the shower taps, stepping into the shower recess Shannah closes her eyes allowing the water to wash over her face."
