Yes!  I got to see the australis borealis from my balcony!  At 5.30am

 

Note the red hue vertical line with very slight greens, which was like a wave, passing from right to left. 

Visible with the naked eye, as a vertical red hue, which moved across the Southern horizon, like a ghostly wave.  Then dissipating.  

Also note from the Australian Bureau of Meteorology that the "K index" was off the charts when this storm hit. sws.bom.gov.au/Aurora .
