Cult Gaia. Spring/Summer - lookbook

Jasmin Larian Hekmat and her label Cult Gaia, return with Hekmat's epicurean styled Spring/Summer 2025 collection to reinvigorate that sweet spot of the late 1970s and early to mid 1980s sensorial aesthetics.  And there is no doubting her love of that Californian bohemian chic and those hedonic 1970s beach and poolside styles.  As her evolving and diverse mix, to which Hekmat has defined so well, clearly has set a standard for her collections to date.  Yet, as noted with her Resort 2023 lookbook, she appears to moving into more avant-garde terrority, whilst reflecting more of the eros of the 1970s.  A trend, which moves in and out of seasons of the last ten years, but still holding the line since it began to firmly imprint itself in 2018, as an open and expressive sexuality, while still trying to gain traction on the runways and lookbooks.  And as mentioned numerous times in my reviews.  Could this be an attempt at setting a course for the next counter culture? Are we at the cusp of a renewed sexual revolution, of sorts?  There is a catch through, you'll have to turn off your phones.

But, it is very difficult to tell if anything counterculture is surfacing, despite fashion offering some clues, as the tug of war within the fashion industry, seen as a simulacrum of modernism, postmodernism, avant-garde and bohemian styles which, rather than creating friction, is actually offering an invigoration.  Hekmat's Cult Gaia, gently offers her own take on an era, and we all know it wasn't perfect, but we do miss it.  Even if we have to refer to some 1970s dystopian science fiction movies and books, that warned us about Fascism and autocratics running the show in the 2000s.   And now, we're all living through it.

So, let the sensual fluidity of the said eras reign bring in the revolution, even it is just a stylized impression.  We'll take it.  And for Hekmat's latest array, it doesn't just align that ardor fixation, it transcends with a beautiful mix of hand weaved crochet styles, wrap around dresses, one piece cocktail and mini skirts, matched with Hekmat's clutch and evening bags.  While Hekmat has played around with asymmetrical cuts, with her avant garde inspired pieces, sheer looks, stylised print work, denim, blazers and lots of pent up sex appeal.
