"10 of disks. Wealth", "2 of disks. Change", "Princess of cups". THOTH TAROT CARD READING/s. These cards were pulled as a triple reading. The Order of the reading is from left to right.

 

10 of Disks "Wealth" from the Thoth Tarot, is, as discussed in previous posts, one of Aleister Crowley's (d1947) more ambiguous, and rambled interpretation, if one was to use the Book of Thoth to decipher the "Wealth" card.  I have written extensively on Crowley's turbulent background as an occultist, which would be concluded, in a simplistic overview of his own personal version of occultism, on how significant Jewish Qabalah mysticism was to him and of the many occult societies that sprung up from the 1700s and flourished throughout the 1800s and 1900s, evolving from 16th Century Hermetic Qabalah.  All very distinct from witchcraft and so called devil worshipping, which was more akin to a theatrical novelty that manifested from the countercultures of the 1960s through to the 1980s.   Yet, the incorporation of Hebrew into occultism and ceremonial witchcraft, originated from the coded necessity of using secretive numbering patterns, which Hebrew as a language, also offers a numerical based alphabet.  However, Crowley like other Western esoteric occultists of the 1900s, mixed Hebrew lettering up within the context of devising occultist meanings, that can be at times very hard to understand to the point of being nonsensical.  Such is this particular card.

10 of Disks "Wealth" from the Thoth Tarot basically means to be wary of materialism. 

Reading:

See the gold coins stacked in a formation of Ten?  They represent the Tree of Life from the Qabalah.  Before I continue, I will offer you simple advice before venturing into the details of this card.  They are all meaningless, made of nothing.  This card is worthless.  Just symbols that you may, if you ask, I will interpret for you.  Otherwise, focus of the coins depicted and the name of the Tarot titled "Wealth".  Do you aspire it?  Do you believe in it?  If so, then the symbolism of this card will indeed materialize itself as a deceptive cue.  Wealth, and its desire, one can easily be lead.  Deluded by meaning, dragged around by that hopelessness for stability, which is not of the self.  The material world does not exist, you create its existence.  Everything begins and ends with the self, then why bother over emphasising.  Why bother assuming, that you should feel entitled to attain the wealth of ages.  Be it you, and everybody else.  The boulevard of restless spirits is endless in its suffering.  Know, that the material world will vanish. Like a vapor in time.  So, I say this again; "you are meaningless, nothing".  Meditate on this, and you will know "nothing" is of bliss, and "meaningless" is freedom.

"2 of Disks.  Change."

One of Aleister Crowley's (d1947) more serene and simplistic cards, which has a straightforward and purposeful message.  Although, structured around Crowley's, at times, Far Right leaning conservative beliefs that "Change" supports "Stability", when instability actually creates change. One must be reminded, Crowley passed away a decade before the extremely important counterculture movements of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s began: Beatniks, Hippies, human/animal rights, environmental movements, sexual liberation and the freedom to choose your lifestyle, mixed with hedonism, which could be argued was akin (without being overly conscious of it) to the spiritual practises of sexual meditation and antinomianism.  However, Crowley was part of the 1900s 'New Age' movements, which had affiliations with Proto-Fascism of the 1920s, and forumulated aspects of early conspiracy theories that an unstructured society is a threat to human progression.   So, it is interesting to view the "2 of Disks.  Change." as a hippie-esque type card, however it would be more attuned to 1960s styled occultism, of fusing the Eastern and Western esoteric, into a sibyl inspired reading.  From the Book of Thoth, Crowley offers clues to the card, that it represents Earthy wisdom, reflecting the 2 of the Chokmah (Tree of Life) from the Qabalah.  Which in turn tries to hold its balance between the stability of Jupiter, the upper part of the card, and the lower Capricornus, Pan the unruly horned goat.  Also note, Crowley's interest in Chinese Taoism, with the Yin and Yang symbols, intertwined with a crowned snake in its number 8 configuration, consuming its own tail, indicating the infinity of the Universe.

Reading:

Let chaos bring in change, finding order through meditation.  Above is the stability of the planet Jupiter, the behemoth and its gravity, protecting the wisdom of the Earthly realm, from cosmic destruction; the remnants of dead planets.  Pan and the Capricornus maybe the god of the wild, but its mistrief offers a reprieve from the mundane, be it that stability is the opposite of change.  And change is what we require.  Balance is the harmony of the infinite, the number 8.  Yet, we are of the finite, so change will originate from the self, and will end with the self.

"Princess of Cups"

Princess of Cups Thoth tarot shows Aleister Crowley's fondness for Hindu and Buddhist esoteric, with a dancing woman surrounded by a Lotus flower, representing purity and rebirth, upper right side of the card, the Swan above the Princess's head, which in Hindu and Buddhist mythology, particularly Tibetan, represents wisdom and enlightenment.  The river Dolphin, creation and life.  Finally she is holding, in her right hand, an ornamented bowel with a tortoise inside, which is another powerful symbolism of the esoteric, as the tortoise, once again, showing Crowley's affection for Hindu mythology, is seen as the supreme feminine deity that holds the world above its shell.    Yet, it is the Princess who holds the tortoise, announcing how powerful feminine wisdom and intuition can be, as a guide through the waves of life.     

What I like about the Princess of Cups, which comes under the "Princess" set of four cards in the Thoth deck, it is one of the more prominent cards that represent positivity, as opposed to the darker meanings behind the majority of the Thoth cards, although Crowley's dichotomy of light and dark are usually intermixed within its meanings.  The Princess of Cups is more blatantly light, I would read this card as supreme power of the feminine, with its nonchalant care, more so, its care for the self.  The feminine undoubtedly has an intrinsic ability to cater and be self sufficient to its own entity.  Through the great upheaval and turmoil of life, like the waves depicted in the card, she can dance, even if she is carrying the world.  It is carried effortlessly.  To reward the self with the power beyond the material world, can be at times be a material reward.  Such are the diamonds portrayed on the hem of her gown.  You are that diamond within the chaos.
