Tom Ford and Gucci, Spring 2014 - London Fashion week (September 2013)

So far, in my opinion, the overall Fashion Week/s (Spring 2014) with New York and now London have been disappointing. A slew of 1950s and 1960s high neck lines, splashes of colors, some symmetrical patterns and predictable cuts. The standouts so far have been Y3, Thom Browne (New York fashion week). With Tom Ford (London fashion week) slamming some 1980s 'power' sex appeal (slightly reminding me of Donna Karan's ala Studio 54 late 1970's f*ck fest style), his range is beautifully crafted and cut. Again we are seeing the two tone spectrum of white to black for Spring 2014, which is a safe play even with ready to wear. Ford, also plays on some modernist and stark futurist styling which keeps it fresh and innovating.

Gucci has reigned in as one of the stars at this year's Spring 2014 London Fashion week. This is why the biggest fashion houses are still leading the charge, which in someways shouldn't be - they are taking risks and it appears backlashing against some of the mediocrity in fashion at the moment and long behold is instigated by the newer designers. It's all back to front, out of whack, when it should be smaller brands, labels, designers setting the trend. But everything is 'out of whack' in our current world at the moment.
Sex, power, nonchalant, devil-may-care, f*ck the world styling all wrapped up in confidence. Probably some of the most visually striking palettes so far (2013 fashion weeks); mixed on black, when used properly, you get a desired impact with purples, blues, pinks and burnt orange. Very femme fatale, low cut necklines and killer looks.
