Versace Spring 2014 - Milan Fashion week (September 2013)
London fashion week for Spring 2014 (ready to wear) has come and gone (Jean Pierre Braganza review will be posted soon). What stands out, usually stands out, a matter of taste and critique. Milan is a wrap, but again a major fashion house (Versace) shows how it is done, even for a Spring collection. To rebel against 1950s influenced cuts and blandness which seems to be the trend. 2014 spring collections are displayed as forward purchases (for the buyers) and a balance is essential, but from the majority of designers - mostly newer, It's shocking to see these high collar, restricting looking styles flood the catwalks. The 'balance' is obviously sex appeal, but not in a overtly slutty way, more in a 'power' representation. Gucci nailed it for London, now it's Versace's turn for Milan.
