“And we can see, from this image here from a Church of San Pedro in Ayerbe, Spain...” A man says, conservatively dressed in his early thirties pointing to an image on a projected screen. “…Note, the four arm like ornaments pointing upwards, however the fingers and hands are extended...” With his right hand he opens his palm up, facing the audience. “...as an open gesture. If we look closely at each arm, within the wood carvings, is a small glass window. From left to right...” Holding the projection device in his left hand, he pushes down on the button with his thumb. The next image shows a close up of four small viewing windows of each of church relics. “...are human bones placed into each one of these stylized arm ornaments or more correctly known as Holy Relics. The first image we can see a portion of the Humerus bone, the second, shows the middle an upper Radius and the third image a very well preserved lower section of the Ulna. And for the last image is of the Radius bone once again, however, it appears splintered here...” The man points to a part of bone that looks like it has been snapped off from the rest of the Radius osseous tissue. “…Indicating that this could have been broken, possibly in a violent way. These are the remains of Saints who were part of the Cults of Saints movements of the sixth century...” He then turns his attention to the audience seated within the mid size auditorium. “...The Cults of Saints were a key element to the Roman Catholic church from the Fifth century up until the Sixteenth century, when they were persecuted under the Lutheran Reformation. What is interesting about the dynamic of this Cult structure within the antiquity of the Roman Catholic church was to instill, what could be deemed today, a mysticism of Christianity. Cults and sects of the antiquity in both Western and Eastern religions were very important in diversifying belief structures and what could be argued, assisted in reforming the main tenets of a religion...”
“Fuck, this thing is going on forever...”, a woman, mid length dark brown hair says quietly to herself, whilst looking at her wristwatch. She then looks at the people seated around her, with her legs crossed she taps, in an impatient manner down onto the floor with her left foot. “...I've attended, now I am going to leave.” Standing, straightening out her high hemmed skirt, lifting her handbag, she edges pass the other attendees, making her way to the main aisle to exit the auditorium.
