Quote: "Daceion Ionadi" from Evenfall of the Helical (A.Glass 2022)
“She feels something for you?”
“Yes”
“And you?”
Ionadi looks down at both of his hands, noting the pyramidal tattoo that sits under his right index finger knuckle and the middle finger ring, he stares at the inserted pattern area between the tungsten metal of an ancient meteorite that destroyed the Bronze Age city of Tall el-Hamman of what is known as modern day Jordan in the Middle East, which later became the biblical story of Sodom and Gomorrah. He thinks of his lover Raquel Morin, who gave him the ring.
“She's too erratic, her emotions...It is hard to explain. She’s a drug user, amphetamines mostly.”
“The drug use is usually to cover up emotions, an inadequacy in social situations, which is of course means intimacy. In psychology there is a term called Ambivalent, they, these type of people in friendships and even relationships can trigger both positive and negative emotions in us. It is not an uncommon situation, but it is the way you cope with this and it does seem that you have feelings for her.”
“Deep down, maybe I do. Like I said, it is, shall we say say, a new perspective for me,” Ionadi replies in a detached manner.
Dr Janus, sits back into her chair. “Have you had many friends in your life”
“No”
“Intimate Relationships?”
“Yes”
“As a mutual interaction. Sexually?”
“That would be it, although there is deep respect...” Ionadi points, places his two hands together in a pray like manner. “...of the feminine.” He thinks back three years ago to an affair he had with a married woman, a psychologist in her own clientèle room once when he was seeking therapy.
Dr Janus, shifts her sitting position, crossing her right leg over her left knee, whilst in a clinical manner, trying to unravel some of the interpersonal issues that the man in front of her has displayed. In her initial perplexion of Ionadi lies an enigma, that is both feminine of its mystique and masculine in its sentiment.
“I don't think I can do much more with Sarah,” Ionadi says.
“What do you mean?” The psychologist asks.
“Time for me to move on.”
“From your apartment?”
“Yes, I've been there for too long.”
“Is it important that you keep moving?”
“Yes, I was born...” Ionadi looks up at the ceiling, yet there is no misconception of possibilities, his thoughts are of a calm disposition. He looks at Dr Janus. “...a rogue and raised by the peripheral.”
