Garry James was hired to rewrite the script by the late Jack Limmy, who passed away before the script could be completed for the sequel to the "Barista" (1982).  Yet, controversy was abound, as James, who admitted years later that he went on a LSD binge, as he claimed that he had ran out of ideas and needed a fresh impetus to complete the script.  Also said that he would design all the art for the new project and co-produce, against the Studio's wishes.  "The Barista II" known as "Rise of the Diabolical",  went into pre-production in 1984, and was cursed from the start.  After losing their first Director Harold Bunkas, who left claiming it was impossible to work with James, James brought in Frank De'lanas who had made several 'Horror' drive in movies in the 1960's, then ventured into the porno industry in the late 1970's.  De'lanas believed that he could create a blockbuster with James's script, and was able to convince the Studio backing the project for the $80 Million to complete the production.  But, in early 1985, the Studio eventually pulled the plug, with James's production team, that he had put together for the Barista II, began working on the family movie "Christmas with Uncle Cranky" which was a blockbuster for that year.

Garry James moved to Daraga in Hawaii, and retired from the movie business.  His final words before he left were, "There is an active volcano at Daraga."   Frank De'lanas continued to make porn, changing his name to Buckshot Willy and in 1995 he renounced his former life and became a preacher, moving to New Orleans.

"The Barista II" or "Rise of the Diabolical" never saw the light of day, a small Comic book publishing company from San Francisco bought the rights to the original movie script and artistic concepts, as an idea to turn it into a comic book.  The company went bankrupt in 1996.   And was unable to finance the project.
