from the chiasmus archive: March 18th, 2014. IRIS VAN HERPEN, PARIS - FALL 2014.

I absolutely adore Iris van Herpen's style, artistic endeavor and philosophy.  Perfect.  Naming this Fall's 2014 Paris show under "Biopiracy", I can't stress enough the importance (which is possibly being conveyed by van Herpen), of humanities removal from the natural world - by looking at the natural world as indifferent to us, in the sense of our impact on it and it's impact on us. This is what I get from her designs and overall temperament within her outlook - which is completely ingrained in a futurist concept of materials, cuts and creations that are purely human made and orientated.  That being no "Fur/animal" and/or no objects drawn and taken from nature, but rather a duplication or distinctly humanist styling that does not connect to the natural environment.

Subtle creams and browns matched with radiant blues and black, overlaid with a metallic shimmer.  Power and defiance thrives within a sexual wonderland - our dystopian future awaits.
