I've always admired 6397, under creative director Stella Ishii who has embraced the simplicities of her collections away from minimalistic styling pe se, her clothing ranges hold detailed visual aspects.  That makes 6397's limited styles basic, yet at the same time interesting and unique.  For Spring 2019, the brand as moved away from the late 1970s Chelsea Hotel, CBGB's (infamous, now defunct, NYC club) romanticisms of pre and post punk styles, which is a sensible decision in someways.  More so the nostalgic views, as a contemporary trend are mirrored by its tragic history of drug overdoses and human wreckage.  So, when a brand itself begins to mature and source its own ideas, rather than past refections, this makes it all more interesting and exciting.

Ishii for her latest collection has ensured that the sophistication of her clothing is now radiating a gleam of experience.  Melded over time, as the styles, despite their rawer street looks, have now been able to imprint as a fashionable cue under 6397's banner.  Which shows a brand now focusing inward, rather than sourcing trends.  That, if one is to be critical of fashion and its forecasting, it is that vain attempt that all young designers tend to get caught up in; chasing markets.  The sooner, a designer unwinds  from a future expectation, the better.  Rather they should build within the present time as an idea that doesn't follow forecasts.  Of the assumption that they will be the next big thing.  What works, works, what doesn't, always dictates the impression.  But, this can only occur from within, markets with their trends are unreliable and for the most part unpredictable.

Silk, cotton and wools. Blazer's, jackets, one piece dresses and tunics with their plaid, flowery silk prints.  Thrift styles are evident as the main trend for 2020 and the 6397 collection fits in nicely within their aesthetics, with styles that are relaxed and open.  In an overall sense, their Spring collection reveals a positive vibe, so there is no sombre resonation.
Enjoying the moment, life is life
