Will 2022 be an Omicron Reinfection wave? Early modeling suggest that the BA.5 strain is the most infectious disease in history, on par with Measles. Will governments push that 3 (4th booster) shots is to be fully vaccinated rather than 2? Omicron variant tweaks to current vaccinations could be months away. mask/restrictions return in the meantime?

While the world watches China lockdown its major cities, which is sending the global economy into a recession.   The West has full steamed ahead with its "living with the virus" rhetoric to which governments have made a meal of the fully vaccinated status, whilst rolling back all mask wearing and restrictions, when 3 shots would constitute for the current known strains, so countries like America at 63% and the U.K. at 72%  (x2 shots fully vaccinated) gave the impression that all was well when hospitalizations and deaths began to decline pre Spring/Summer, have since spiked.  Particularly from the BA.5 which is now the dominant Omicron strain, which has a rate of reproduction at 18.6%, in comparison to the 2019 Wuhan strain which was  3.3%, puts BA.5 and its associated linages on par with the most infections disease known to humanity: measles.

Until a tweaked vaccination is rolled out to deal with the BA.5, 2022 could be the reinfection beat down.
